Hey I'm Trace, some call me Traas, and some call me Traasmon, just don't ever call me late for dinner (had to slip a dad joke in). After nothing but struggles in art class during elementary school, I steered clear from anything art related until this past summer. I had been to concerts before, but I never really appreciated them for anything except the music and the good times with friends--that is until I saw ODESZA at Red Rocks. These guys know how to put on a show. Each of their various lights and LED screens were programmed to enhance their music in perfect harmony. I remember thinking, "this isn't just a concert, this is a masterpiece." Every song was unique and evoked a different feeling and overall vibe. Their show inspired me to give art a try. Now that I have the opportunity to take a Digital Art class, I'm looking forward to learning some basic skills that can eventually allow me to make some audio/visual creations of my own. I love the aspect of synchronicity, and the way visual effects can enhance the vibe of a song. I have always struggled with drawing and painting, but I think digital art could be a medium that I could find enjoyment in; a way to express my creativity without frustration. A dream job in my opinion would be to design a live production for an artist I love like ODESZA. I'm excited to get my hands dirty with digital art and see where it takes me.
